We are excited to welcome Dr. Erick Pruitt, Superintendent of the Ankeny Community School District, to our board. With over two decades of experience in education, Dr. Pruitt brings invaluable leadership expertise and a passion for shaping the future of students. His previous roles in the Houston Independent School District and Chicago Public Schools reflect his deep commitment to improving educational outcomes, particularly for underserved communities.
Dr. Pruitt's educational journey is impressive, holding degrees from Purdue University, Loyola University, and National-Louis University. His leadership has been pivotal in creating equitable opportunities for students, and he remains dedicated to transforming Ankeny schools through experience, collaboration, and innovation.
Dr. Pruitt’s leadership connects seamlessly to the Education component of the One Economy initiative, where improving educational opportunities for Black youth is a crucial step toward addressing disparities.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Dr. Pruitt is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Kenya, have celebrated 29 years of marriage and take pride in their five children: India, who serves in the Army; James, a recent graduate of Howard University; David, a 10th grader; Anaiah, a 7th grader; and Imani, a 6th grader.
